    2. we calculate the total energy . if the total energy is not conserved, it is inelastic collision but if the total energy conserved ,it is elastic collision . am i rght madam ?

      To determine the type of collision, we need to calculate the total kinetic energy..if the total kinetic energy is conserved,the collision is an elastic collision but if the total kinetic energy is not conserved,the collision is an inelastic collision.am I right madam?

    2. If the kinetic energy is the same, then the collision is elastic. If the kinetic energy changes, then the collision is inelastic. it depends of whether the objects stick together or not.am i right madam?

    3. Very good but not exact at all..
      To determine the type of collision(elastic/inelastic) we should calculate value of total energy before and after collision..if same means that total K.E conserved so it is an elastic collision,vice versa..not actually depends on condition of the objects after collision(stick/separate)

      1)Perfectly elastic-separate after collision
      2)perfectly inelastic-stick and move together after collision

      If the question did not state 'PERFECT'..so we do not know the condition of the objects after collision..
      CONCLUSION: the type of collision can be determine by calculate the K.E only, not depends on the condition after collision..

      because some of the energy converted to internal energy such as heat but the total energy is still conserved

    8. very good..i got your ideas..this happens because some of the kinetic energy before collision has converted to other form of energy like heat, sound and light(energy loss) due to collision.-energy cannot destroy but can convert to other form of energy...

      CONCLUSION:
      1)the total kinetic energy is not same before and after collision means that total kinetic energy is not conserved.
      TOTAL INITIAL K.E is NOT EQUAL TO TOTAL FINAL K.E
      2)the total energy is conserved because this is closed system(no external force) and energy cannot be destroy.
      TOTAL K.E=FINAL K.E+ E loss

  7. Situation 1: a ball of m1 is trown horizontally and hits wall.after the collision the ball moves with same speed but in opposite direction.Discuss :

    1)what happen to the velocity?(change/not).give your reason
    2)how is about momentum?(change/not).give your reason
    3 )howt calculate the impulse delivered to the ball by the wall?

      1)The velocity of the ball will change according to the direction,so the velocity will become negative.
      2)The momentum will change because the velocity change.
      3)The impulse can be calculated by using the equation [impulse=Ft=m(v-u)].

      thus it causes the change of momentum of an object when the object is acted upon by a force for an interval of time

    2. very good sya..i got your ideas..force exerted on the ball in a contact time will change the velocity of the ball.hence the momentum changes.there is impulse
